Maintain Swimming Pool

Having a swimming pool in the house is a fantastic idea, especially if you have the space available. Whether you have an indoor or an outdoor pool, it is incredibly important that you learn a thing or two about how to maintain your pool. Stagnant water can be tremendously harmful if you do not know how to keep it clean, especially in an outdoor pool. Since the water is constantly exposed to the environment, it can get dirty within a few days if proper care is not taken.

Preventative maintenance, just like you do for your home, could greatly improve the overall costs during the lifecycle of your swimming pool. If maintained properly, you won’t have to worry about spending a lot of money on getting simple repair work done. Most of the preventative maintenance work isn’t difficult; it just requires a little bit of discipline and scheduling on your part. When it comes to pool maintenance, you just have to make a schedule so that you don’t lag behind. Just make it a point to follow the tips given in the paragraphs below, and you won’t ever have to worry about major issues with your pool.

Checking Pool Chemistry

One of the first things that you should do is to check the chemistry of the pool water at least once or twice during the week in the summers. During the winters, you should check the chemistry at least once in a week. The pH value should remain between 7.2 and 7.8. Basically, the lower the pH value, the less amount of chlorine will be required. As long as you keep the pH value of the water under control, you won’t have to worry about emptying bottle after bottle of chlorine in the pool.

Cleaning the Pool Pump and Filter

Hair and lint often tend to get stuck near the opening of the pool pump or around the pool filter. Cleaning it regularly is important to maintain the efficiency of the pool pump and the filter. You should clean out the hair and lint that’s stuck to the pool at least once every couple of weeks. Keep a check on the amount of hair and lint that has been deposited on the opening of the pool pump after several days and clean it if you think it’s getting out of hand. Make sure you turn off the pump before you clean it.

Hire a Professional

If you can’t make the time to clean out the pool all by yourself, you can also hire a maintenance specialist to clean the pool for you. The specialist will visit your place after every week or so and clean out the pools. Specialists don’t even charge a lot of money for their services.
